Professional Liability

Background & Challenges

An in-home supportive care service needed to increase its Allied Healthcare Professional Liability and General Liability coverages from $1 million to $4 million but was struggling to find a carrier willing to underwrite at that level due to high risk. To complicate matters, their previous broker had not responded to their requests for 2 months, leaving them one week away from the renewal date with no plan of action.

How Flow Helped

With the help of Flow’s platformless AI, our broker worked with the agent to:

  • Provide a comprehensive
coverage review and comparison
  • Market the account
  • Secure the required $4 million Allied Healthcare Professional Liability and General Liability coverages with a retention five times lower than the expiring coverage in time for the renewal.

The Outcome

Thrilled with the white-glove service they received, the agent came back to Flow requesting a review of the service’s Employment Practices Liability.

Flow identified that the service was lacking crucial coverages for this industry class as the expiring policy showed quite narrow coverage. Our broker secured a policy with $1 million, including additional limits plus 5 essential coverage items missing in the expiring policy, ensuring enhanced protection at a competitive rate. This review was completed in just a couple of days to align with the renewal of the Professional and General Liability coverages.

A few weeks later, when the supportive care service decided to add Non-Owned Auto Liability, the agent came back to Flow again.

Our broker was able to add this endorsement under the Allied Healthcare Professional Liability and General Liability coverages, and was able to backdate this coverage to match the effective date of all policies, further strengthening the service’s risk management strategy.

Not only was the coverage improved, but it was also obtained at a better price, addressing the financial strain of high broker fees.

Within just a few weeks, the in-home care service transitioned its entire insurance portfolio to the new broker, benefiting from superior coverage, better pricing, and more responsive service. By identifying coverage gaps, offering coverage comparisons, and proactively securing necessary policies, our broker not only met the client’s immediate needs but also established a trusted, ongoing relationship with the agency.
